These are not
Department store famous cookies-with a mythical over-told story attached to them.
Well known newspaper famous cookies-where you chill the dough for a month and then bake.
The best chocolate-chip-cookies-you-will-ever-taste cookies—those would be your momma’s.
These are
Cookies that will pass a chocolate chip cookie craving test, when you are not in the mood to read a chain letter recipe and you don’t have 30 days to chill the dough and your momma doesn’t live close enough to bake cookies for you.
This is what you will need:
1 cup butter, melted 1 cup packed brown sugar 1 cup white sugar 1 pkg vanilla instant pudding mix (102g size—the regular 4 serving box) 1 tbsp milk 2 eggs 2 tsp vanilla 2 cups all purpose flour 1 tsp baking powder 1 tsp baking soda 2 cups milk chocolate chips Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Grease baking sheets and set aside (I use a silpat or parchment paper). In a large bowl, mix together butter, and brown and white sugars. Stir in dry pudding mix and milk. Stir in eggs and vanilla. In a separate bowl, stir together flour, baking powder and baking soda, stir this into your butter mixture. Drop by heaping 1 tbsp about 2 inches apart onto your prepared pans. Bake in the center of your oven until golden brown around the edges about 12 minutes. Let cool for a few minutes on the baking sheet and then transfer to a rack to cool completely.
These cookies are extremely easy to make + the addition of pudding results in a nice chewiness. Chewy = a perfect chocolate chip cookie in my world.
I double the recipe + get approximately 7 dozen cookies when I use a small ice cream scoop to measure out the dough.
I also find that I need to bake them for approximately 14 minutes due to a higher altitude.
And they freeze very well. When you have 84 cookies sitting on your kitchen counter freezing is a good thing.
Disclaimer
Admittedly, I am the type of baker who did try the chill- for- 24 -hours -cookies.
I would rank them very highly I might even say they are some of the best cookies I have baked.
Some of. And I have baked a lot of cookies.
Just thought I should come clean about that...
